Dana Cypress was an officer at the Rothschild Police Department and the older sister of Martha Cypress.[1]

Early life[]
The oldest daughter of Sheriff Wayne Cypress and Patricia Cypress, Dana lost her mother at 6 years old. She always wanted to be a detective and initially believed her mother had faked her death; however, she discovered the traffic accident that had killed Patty had been caused because Wayne was drunk driving. The discovery made Dana rebel against her father, acting out to get revenge on him while keeping the reason a secret.[2]
As a teenager, Dana dated Derrick Hinch, with whom she smoked pot and had sex instead of babysitting her younger sister, Martha. One night, Martha called their father to tell on Dana, and he grounded Dana for six months, canceling her driving lessons and forbidding her from seeing Derrick. Afterward, Dana beat Martha for telling on her.[3] Dana had a son with Derrick, Cooper, while still in high school,[4] but they eventually broke up.[5]
Adulthood[]
Dana lived with Copper in her own house and became an officer at the Rothschild Police Department, working under her father. Nineteen days after central Wisconsin underwent Revival Day, Dana joined the Revitalized Citizen Arbitration Team, the police's unit dedicated to crimes or conflicts involving Revivers. While Dana investigated her first case, the Reviver Arlene Dittman stabbed Dana's younger sister, and she witnessed Martha quickly came back to life.[1] Feeling as she had failed to protect Martha, Dana vowed to find whoever had killed her sister on Revival Day.[4]
