Synopsis[]

Image Comics presents its 20th anniversary anthology with six, all-new original stories promoting upcoming Image Comics titles! Look for "Revival" by Tim Seeley & Mike Norton, G-Man by Chris Giarrusso and additional stories to be announced later.[1]

Plot[]

Wausau, Wisconsin. The early hours of January 2nd. In the Heinlien Funeral Home, a crematorium technician shows the mortuary for Ms. Tao, a junior reporter for The Ledger writing about unusual jobs. She films with her cellphone as he puts a corpse for cremation and describes the procedures of his job.

As the technician turns the crematorium on, they both hear a scream and thumps coming from inside. He rushes to open it, and a heavily burned person escapes the oven. A girl surprises the reporter and asks to call her mother. She is pale, wearing a black dress, and complaining about the cold.

A woman surprises her family and a priest from her bed in the Good Samaritan Hospital. In the Wausau Police Department, a police officer and a coroner watch as a body bag sits up. A white figure says "no" by the bridge of Highway 51.

As paramedics take the burned person on a stretcher, the technician explains to the police the man was dead for sure. Another officer wraps the little girl in a blanket. In the corner, Ms. Tao sits on the floor, her phone in her hand.
