Revival #2 is the second issue of the Revival comic series. With story by Tim Seeley and art by Mike Norton, the issue was originally published on August 15, 2012, by Image Comics.
Synopsis[]
- Meet Blaine Abel, snowmobile mechanic and part time demonologist. Blaine isn't too pleased to have the dead walking around his town and he's about to do something about it. Dana deals with the aftermath of what went down at the farm, as citywide cabin fever escalates. And Em just wants someone to hit her. Art by Eisner nominated creator, MIKE NORTON![1]
Plot[]
Dr. Ramin accompanies a coroner performing an autopsy on Arlene Dittman. She wakes up as soon as the top of her head reconnects with her brain, surprising both doctors.
Dana looks at old pictures of her, Em, and their father. Cooper asks if she thinks everyone will have an extra life like in video games, and she says there is only one life so that we can appreciate our family and friends.
On the previous day, Dana asks Martha if she hurt or suffered. Em says it doesn't matter because they need a cover story. Dana begins to cry, saying she was supposed to protect her as her bigger sister. Em says she knows Dana will find out who murdered her.
In the present, Dana's father calls her and reprimands her for taking Martha to a crime scene, threatening to take her from the R.C.A.T. as Em listens in. She goes into her old room and looks at the scars on her chest and on her forehead. Her father enters and asks her to stay the night. She accepts but argues that he was too hard on Dana and has been since she got pregnant in high school. Her father says he put Dana on the task force to support her, but his two daughters almost got killed, and he can't lose them.
That night, in a trailer park, a girl tied to her bed screams in Latin. Her father welcomes Mr. Abel, who arrives in a snowmobile and promises to free the girl from "Satan's minions."
In The Pulphouse Pub, Dana comments that Ibrahaim playing an arcade game of shooting zombies might be insensitive after people came back to life. He apologizes, but she says she is just kidding. Ibrahaim says he was venting after a rough day at work, and she agrees. He sits with her and asks what she does for work. Dana says she didn't want to think about her job, but he should come up with something better for them to talk about.
Em sneaks into Dana's old room and takes a jacket from one of the boxes. She puts it on and sneaks out of the house while her father sleeps in front of the TV.
While Lester trains in his home, his dog Chuck runs outside. Lester follows him, and they hear wailing from far away. Lester asks if someone needs help, but the wailing continues. Lester goes back in with his dog, fearfully telling Chuck there's nothing out there.
in a restaurant, Em makes conversation with a woman complaining that her mother is dying while "a bunch of assholes" live forever. Em looks at a couple sitting at a table and insults the woman. The woman turns to leave, but Em continues to escalate the insults until the woman punches and kicks her. The man at the table recognizes Em, and the barman holds the woman back. A waitress comes to help Em stand up, and Em says with a bloodied face that she is good.
Dana and Ibrahaim make out in her car. She stops to answer her phone and tells him she has to pick up her sister. Ibrahaim, who didn't know her name up to that point, nervously asks if she is the daughter of Sheriff Wayne Cypress and introduces himself as the C.D.C. liaison who will be working with her.
The tied girl continues kicking and screaming. Her parents are hopeless, but Mr. Abel asks them to leave him alone with Kelly. Once they leave the bedroom, Abel holds her by the neck and says he knows she is faking out of boredom and attention. He explains people laughed at him until the dead came back to life and people began seeing ghosts, but he still gets called to exorcise bored girls who just learned some Latin online and spit a little on themselves. He says she will tell her parents he cast out the darkness and threatens her if she ever says anything about faking it or his threat. Kelly's satisfied parents pay him, and she watches as Abel leaves.
Dana thanks the restaurant owner for calling her about her sister while Em awaits in the car with Ibrahaim. Dana enters it and asks her what that was all about. Em smiles with her bruised face in the rear-view mirror.
Wayne wakes up in his armchair and sees Dana at the kitchen table. Looking at old pictures of her and her sister, Dana says she wants back at the R.C.A.T. and will do whatever she has to convince him she's the woman for the job.
