Wayne Cypress was a sheriff at the Marathon County Sheriff's Department and the father of Dana and Martha Cypress.[1]

Biography[]

Wayne was married to Patricia, with whom he had two daughters, Dana and Martha. He was also a close friend of Ken Dillisch since they were both police officers.[2] One night, Wayne drove his motorcycle while drunk[3] with his wife and collided with an oncoming car,[2] resulting in Patty's death. Ken helped Wayne cover up his fault in the incident.[3]

Wayne's oldest daughter, Dana, investigated the incident and discovered his father's fault. As revenge, she grew rebellious against him without revealing what she knew.[4] Wayne grounded Dana for months for smoking pot with her boyfriend,[5] and she became pregnant with her son, Cooper, while still in high school.[6] According to Dana, Martha became "daddy's favorite."[7]

Wayne became sheriff[3] of Marathon County and oversaw the quarantine over Wisconsin after Revival Day. Under federal orders, he had police officers blocking the borders to the quarantined area. Mayor Ken Dillisch also requested Wayne to create a unit to deal with crimes and conflicts involving Revivers, to which Wayne appointed his daughter, Officer Dana Cypress.[7]
